Dorance Beskid
Prior to starting my working career I attended
Los Angeles Trade
Technical College for a course in auto mechanics which gave me a hands-on
working knowledge of how a motor vehicle functions. Although I never
planned on being an automotive technician, it turned out to be extremely
helpful in my working career as I was fortunate to be asked to work at a
Ford dealership starting out as a parts pick up and delivery driver. I
worked my way up to ‘journeyman’ status and became a shop counter parts
tech. I was recruited by a Lincoln Mercury dealership in Berkeley and
moved to Concord, CA.
I worked in the greater
San Francisco bay area
Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealerships for about 10 years, moving up through
the ranks to management. I was then recruited by a Ford dealership in the
greater Sacramento area. There I began concentrating on servicing fleets
accounts such as P.G. & E., Granite Construction, and the like. This was
very educational and helped tremendously in the part I played in helping
design and set up a nine acre fleet facility. I quickly learned the
urgency of that area of the automotive industry.
In early 2008, I was invited to work here at
Burton’s Fire as parts
manager. The Firefighting industry is certainly a competitive and
demanding arena. It is very fulfilling to be a part of the Burton’s Fire
organization.

I began my parts
experience in 1987 working at a local
heavy duty truck dealer.
Next, I took on the purchasing of light and heavy
duty truck parts at a large
equipment rental yard.
In 1998 I came to work
for Burtons Fire. I have been to Pierce for various parts training classes
as well as Waterous Pump School. Burtons Fire also allowed me to attend an
aerial class and a Tak-4 suspension class taught here on the premises.
When it comes to
customer service, we at Burton’s strive to improve in every
area we can, to meet the customers’ needs.

Prior to my work at Burton's Fire, I was employed in
agricultural tractor parts sales. In 2004, I was given an opportunity to
join Burton's Fire as a parts technician. My favorite aspect of the job is
working with our customers. One of my main responsibilities is taking
parts calls, so if you call us, there is a good chance I am the guy you'll
be talking to. I have attended Waterous Pump School, as well as several
Pierce training classes. If there is anything I can help you with, please
give me a call or email me.
